The Chain of Responsibility (CoR) is legislation which holds accountable all parties within the Supply Chain (Consigner, Transport Company, Driver, Consignee, etc). Its main objective is to provide safer road and work conditions for all Australians. To achieve this aim the CoR legislation within the transport industry covers such areas as: Vehicle Load Weights, Vehicle Load Dimensions, Load Restraint and Driver Working Hours (Fatigue Management).
Thus, it is imperative that you fulfil the necessary requirements to ensure that all legal obligations are satisfied. It is extremely important that the information placed on the con note is correct.
What are your responsibilities?
You will have responsibility for ensuring that documentation about the goods is not false or misleading.
You will also need to make sure that any goods packed in a freight container do not cause the container�s gross weight or safety approval rating to be exceeded.
You must indicate if goods are dangerous goods and supply on pick up, all required dangerous goods documentation.
